Pickerington Academy Program Update

Pickerington Local Schools will conclude operations of Pickerington Academy at the end of the 2025–2026 school year (July 2026). The personalized learning and student support practices developed through Pickerington Academy will continue and be embedded within students’ home high schools.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, students currently served by Pickerington Academy will return to their home high schools, where embedded credit recovery and academic support services will be provided.

Additional information about student transition supports will be shared as plans are finalized.

Purpose of the Change

Pickerington Academy will close at the end of the 2025–2026 school year (July 2026), and the student-centered support model will continue within students’ home high schools.

Why the Decision Was Made

  • To provide timely, personalized support within students’ home high schools.
     
  • To reduce barriers created by separating students from their home school.
     
  • To strengthen relationships and allow earlier academic intervention.

  • Students currently enrolled in Pickerington Academy will return to their home high school for the 2026–2027 school year.
